Description : The Asian Imperial Eagle is a large raptor (adult bird length approximately 85 cm; weight 3.6 kg; wing 60 cm; bill: 5.5 cm). The adult has glossy blackish-brown upperparts. Its greyish tail has a darker terminal band. The male and the female look alike. It has bluish-horn bill with a blackish tip. The imperial eagle prefers open country with scattered trees, wetlands, and wooded areas. They forage in open grasslands, wetlands, and agricultural regions. They require glades or meadows for hunting in wooded areas. They inhabit steppe areas, forest-steppe mosaics, open woodlands, river valleys, and even agricultural areas with trees. They generally prefer lowland habitats.
