Description : Rufous-bellied Niltava is a flycatcher with noticeable sexual dimorphism (length 15 cm, weight 21.5 g, wing 8 cm, bill 1.7 cm, tarsus 2.2 cm, tail 6.5 cm). The adult male is dark blue above and orange below. Its forehead is black and the sides of the head are dark purplishblue which looks almost black. Its crown, sides of neck, shoulders and rump are brilliant blue. It has an orange lower body up to vent. Its bill is black. The adult female is olive-brown above and below. Its forehead and lores are orange-buff, wings and tail are rufescent, chin and upper throat are fulvous-olive, lower throat is white and the belly is olive-brown. Its bill is blackish-brown. Both sexes have brown irises and plumbeous-brown legs and feet. It feeds mainly on insects, such as ants, beetles, etc. It readily takes berries in the nonbreeding season. It breeds in April-July.
