Description : The White-crowned Forktail is a small, sleek, black and white bird with a long forked tail (length 28 cm, weight 55 g, wing 10.5 cm, bill 2.7 cm, tarsus 3 cm, tail 14 cm approximately). The adult is black banded with white above and white below except for its black throat and breast. It has a prominent white spot on its forehead and forecrown. It has white patches on its wingcoverts, a white rump and a long forked black and white tail. Its irises are dark brown, bill is black, and legs and feet are fleshy-white. It feeds mainly on insects and aquatic invertebrates. It breeds in the adjacent hills of India in April-June.
