Description : The White-collared Blackbird is a passerine whose male is visibly different from the female (length 27 cm, weight 100 g, wing 14 cm, bill 3 cm, tarsus 3.5 cm, tail 10 cm). The male is entirely black except for a white collar from its neck to mantle, throat and breast. The female is rufous-brown with a dull ashy collar around the neck, mantle, throat and breast. Both sexes have brown irises, yellow eye-ring and bill with dusky yellow at the tip and yellow to dark ochraceous legs and feet. The most striking feature of the male is completely black head and nape and the female is with orange flank and malar stripe. It feeds on insects, fruits, berries and other vegetable matters. It breeds in May-July.
