Long-billed Dowitcher Did you see this animal?

Scientific Name : Limnodromus scolopaceus
Family : Scolopacidae
Order : Charadriiformes
Class : Aves
Phylum : Chordata
Habitat : Wetlands

Description : Long-billed Dowitcher is smaller than Asian Dowitcher and has shorter legs. (Which are grayish, yellowish or greenish rather than black) In non breeding plumage, it has grey upperparts, breast and white belly. In breeding plumage it has rufous upperparts with some spotting. Male long-billed dowitchers court females with songs and compete through aerial displays. They nest in wet areas with tall grasses, creating simple depressions lined with grass and leaves. Each year, they lay four eggs (sometimes three), which are oval to pear-shaped and have splotches of brown and dark gray. Both parents participate in incubation, which lasts about twenty days. The precocial chicks can feed themselves shortly after hatching, and the male cares for them until they fledge.
