Description : The Green Sandpiper is a small dark shore bird with a white rump (adult bird length approximately 23 cm, weight 75 g, wing 14.5 cm, bill 3.4 cm, tarsus 3.3 cm, tail 5.5 cm). In the non-breeding season, its upperparts are dark brown with very small pale spots and its belly and flanks are white. It has an ashy-brown head and neck and a white supercilium in front of the eyes. It feeds on molluscs, crustaceans, worms, aquatic invertebrates and small amounts of plant matters. The grey-tailed tattler lays a clutch of 2–4 eggs in the abandoned nest of another species, often utilizing old tree nests of other birds. The incubation period for the eggs lasts approximately three weeks before they hatch.
