Description : The Sanderling is a small whitish shorebird whose face, throat and breast turns rufous in the summer (adult bird length approximately 20 cm, weight 40 g, wing 12.5 cm, bill 2.5 cm, tarsus 2.4 cm, tail 5 cm). In the winter, it looks pale grey from above and pure white from below. In all seasons it has brown irises, short straight black bill, and short black legs and feet. It feeds on worms, molluscs and crustaceans.
