Description : The Red-wattled Lapwing is a long-legged wader with a short red bill (adult bird length approximately 33 cm, weight 190 g, wing 22 cm, bill 3.7 cm, tarsus 7.3 cm, tail 11 cm). It looks bronze-brown from above and black and white from below. Its head, neck and breast are black. It feeds on ants, termites, beetles, worms, caterpillars and crustaceans. It is most active at dawn and dusk. It breeds in March-September.
