Description : The River Lapwing is a brownish water bird with black long legs and a black cap (adult bird length approximately 31 cm, weight 165 g, wing 19.5 cm, bill 2.7 cm, tarsus 6.5 cm, tail 9 cm). It looks sandy-brown and black from above and white from below. It feeds on insects, worms, crustaceans, small frogs and tadpoles. It breeds in March-June.
