Description : The Eurasian Oystercatcher is a black and white shore bird with an orange-red bill (adult bird length approximately 42 cm, weight 670 g, wing 25 cm, bill 8.5 cm, tarsus 5.2 cm, tail 10.6 cm). It looks almost black from above except for its white rump. It feeds on crustaceans and marine invertebrates. It breeds in April-May. The nest is a bare scrape on pebbles, on the coast or on inland gravelly islands. Two to four eggs are laid. Both eggs and chicks are highly cryptic.
