Description : The Collared Scops Owl is the biggest scops-owl found in Bangladesh (adult bird length approximately 24 cm, weight 170 g, wing 17 cm, bill 2.5 cm, tail 8.2 cm). It looks grey-brown or rufous-brown from above and buff from below. It has prominent pale ear-tufts and a pale face surrounded by a black line. It feeds on beetles, grasshoppers and other insects, lizards, mice and small birds. The collared scops owl is a frequently encountered breeding bird in forests and other habitats with ample tree cover. It chooses tree hollows as nesting sites and typically lays a clutch of 3 to 5 eggs.
