Description : The Buffy Fish Owl is a large, buff coloured night bird with a conspicuous white forehead (adult bird length approximately 50 cm, weight 1.2 kg, wing 36 cm). It has rufous-orange upperparts with thick and prominent black streaking. It feeds mainly on fish. It also takes insects, beetles, frogs, reptiles, small mammals, bats and carrion. It breeds in December-May.
