Description : The Daurian Redstart is a small passerine whose male is visibly different from the female (length 15 cm, wing 7.3 cm, tarsus 2.3 cm, tail 6 cm approximately). The male looks slaty-grey from above and rufous-orange from below. Its forehead and nape are slaty-grey and the lores, earcoverts, chin and throat are black. Its belly, rump and tail are rufous. The female looks olivebrown from above and more or less fulvous-brown from below. Its eye-ring is buff, throat is pale, breast is fulvous-brown, flanks are ochraceous and the belly is cream coloured. It feeds on insects and berries. It breeds in May-August.
