Description : The Northern Harrier is a sleek long-winged bird of prey (adult bird length approximately 48 cm, wing 36.5 cm, bill 2.6 cm, tarsus 7.3 cm, tail 23 cm). The male and female differ. The male has a dark grey head, breast. The female is dark brown above with a paler neck and a prominent white band on the uppertail-coverts. It mainly feeds on lizards, rodents, small birds and large insects.
