Description : The Eurasian Stone Chat is a small brown upright passerine (length 13 cm, weight 12 g, wing 6.7 cm, bill 1.4 cm, tarsus 2.2 cm, tail 4.8 cm approximately). The male differs from the female. The adult male looks black and brown above and chestnut to white below. Its head, nape and throat are entirely black. It has a white patch on its neck and in the wings, a white rump and a black tail. Its breast is rusty-orange and its belly is buff fading to white on the vent. In the nonbreeding season it looks brown with dark streaks above and has buff edges to the secondaries and tertials. The female looks rufous-brown to dark brown from above and pale fulvous from below. It has a brown crown, narrow buffish supercilium, whitish throat, streaked upperparts of brown and buff, a small white patch in the wing, pale rufous to orange buff rump and uppertailcoverts. It feeds mainly on small beetles, locusts, and other insects and their larvae. It breeds in the Himalayas and in Siberia in March-July
