Description : The White-capped Redstart is a small passerine with prominent white cap and a beautiful rufous fan for its tail (length 13 cm, weight 33.5 g, wing 9.4 cm, bill 1.8 cm, tarsus 3.3 cm, tail 7.5 cm approximately). It looks almost entirely black and rufous. It has a blue-black head with a white cap. Its breast, back and wings are entirely black. Its lower breast, belly and rump are rufous, and the fan-like rufous tail has a broad black terminal band. Its bill is black, irises are dark brown, and legs and feet are blackish-brown. It feeds on insects and berries. It breeds in the Himalayas in March-August.
