Description : The Oriental White-eye is a small bright yellowish-green bird of the tree tops (length 10 cm, weight 9 g, wing 5.3 cm, bill 1.2 cm, tarsus 1.5 cm, tail 4 cm). The upperparts are uniformly yellowish-green with darker wings and tail. Its throat and upper breast are bright yellow, the lower breast and belly are whitish and its undertail-coverts are yellow. It has a prominent white eye-ring, blackish lore and a small dark patch under the eye. Its irises are yellowish-brown, the legs and feet are plumbeous grey to grey-brown and its bill is black with grey at the base of the lower mandible. The male and the female look alike. It feeds on insects, spiders, caterpillars, berries, buds, seeds and nectar. It breeds in April-September.
