Description : The Chestnut-crowned Warbler is a small, yellow-green warbler with a chestnut crown (length 10 cm, weight 5.3 g, wing 5.0 cm, bill 1.1 cm, tarsus 1.7 cm, tail 3.7 cm). The back and wings are olive green with two yellow wing bars, a bright lemon-yellow rump, and white inner webs to the outer tail feathers. It has a chestnut crown with black stripes on either side of the crown extending to the nape. The mantle, throat, upper breast and ear-coverts are grey, with white spots on the sides of the nape. Its lower breast and belly are white, and the flanks and vent are bright yellow. Its eyes are dark brown surrounded by a white eye-ring. It has pale grey legs, feet and claws. Its bill is bicoloured with a dark horn brown upper mandible and yellowish-brown lower mandible. The male and the female look alike. It feeds mainly on insects, and often makes aerial sallies in their pursuit. It breeds in the hills of northeast India in April-June.
