Description : The Slaty-bellied Tesia is a tiny almost tail-less olive and slaty-coloured passerine (length 9 cm, weight 7.5 g, wing 4.8 cm, bill 1.4 cm, tarsus 2.3 cm, tail 1.8 cm). Its crown and nape are a bright yellowish-green, the rest of the upperparts are dull olive-green. It has a black eyestripe contrasting relatively less with the dark slaty-grey underparts. It has brown irises, legs and feet. The bill is bicolored: the upper mandible is blackish and the lower mandible is orangered with a yellow tip. The juvenile is dark olive-brown above and darker greyish below. It breeds in the Himalayas in May-July. Insects and spiders are its main food.
