Description : Brown Shrike is a small brown bird with a stout bill.The male look entirely rufous-brown from above and pale from below.On the contrary the female looks paler dark and faint dark scaling on its breasts and flanks.Both sexes have brown irises,horn-brown bill and plumbeous legs and feet.The juvenile has warm-brown upperparts which looks like the female. The brown shrike is a migratory bird that returns to the same wintering sites each year. They establish territories early and have a regular timing of migration. They breed from late May to June in a variety of habitats. They mainly feed on insects, which they impale on thorns, and sometimes prey on small birds and lizards. They search for prey from a perch and fly down to catch it.
