Class : Aves
Phylum : Chordata
Other Name : Small Racket-tailed Drongo
Habitat : All kind of forests

Description : Lesser Racquet‑tailed Drongo is a glossy black passerine with a short crest and two unusually long outer feathers in its tail. It looks entirely glossy metallic-black with a bluish sheen. It has brownish-crimson irises, black bill, legs and feet. The juvenile has less gloss on its upperpart than the adult. These birds have been observed to engage in theft of insects caught or disturbed by other foragers within their flock. It is suggested that their ability to mimic the vocalizations of other birds may help them distract and redirect the attention of smaller birds, thus aiding in their pirating behavior. Despite being diurnal, they are known to be active well before dawn and late into dusk. Due to their widespread distribution and notable regional variations, they have become iconic examples of speciation through isolation and genetic drift.
