Description : Rufous Treepie is a rufous-brown and grey bird with a long tail.It looks rufous brown from above and fulvous-buff from below.It has a uniform dark slaty-grey head,orange-brown to brownish red irises,stout dusky plumbeous bill,legs and feet.Both sexes look alike and the juvenile has a browner head along with pale buffish tips to the tail. This species can be commonly found in a variety of habitats including open scrub, agricultural areas, forests, and urban gardens. Primarily dwelling in trees, the rufous treepie is an omnivorous bird that feeds on fruits, nectar, seeds, invertebrates, small reptiles, and the eggs and young of birds. It has also been observed to scavenge flesh from recently killed carcasses. In Bengal breeding season occurring in April and May. During this time, there is increased pineal gland activity and serotonin production. The bird constructs its shallow nest in trees or bushes and typically lays 3 to 5 eggs.
