Description : The maroon oriole is a bird with maroon and black plumage, a black head, neck, and wings, and a blueish beak. Adult males have a glossy crimson-maroon color, while females and immature males have a greyish-white underpart with black streaks. Coloration can vary across the range, with individuals in the Indian Subcontinent having duller colors and those in Southeast Asia having brighter colors with reddish tones. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The maroon oriole is a solitary or pair-living bird species that breeds between April and May. During this time, they construct a deep, sizeable cup-shaped nest made of bast fibre and bound with cobwebs. Parental responsibilities are shared equally between male and female birds. The maroon oriole's diet consists of wild figs, berries, insects, and nectar.
