Description : The Lesser Adjutant is a large, glossy black wading bird (adult bird length approximately 110 cm, weight 4.5 kg, wing 59 cm, bill 28 cm, tarsus 24.8 cm, tail 24 cm). It looks glossy black from above and white from below. It has a glossy black mantle and wings, with metallic copper spots on the tips of the secondary coverts. The skin of its naked face and neck is reddish. It feeds on fish, frogs, lizards, snakes, crustaceans and sometimes on carcass.
