Description : The Plumbeous Water Redstart is a small blue-grey passerine whose male looks very different from the female (length 12 cm, weight 17.5 g, wing 7.5 cm, bill 1.6 cm, tarsus 2.3 cm, tail 5 cm approximately). The male looks dark slaty-blue from above and below except for a rufouschestnut tail, uppertail-coverts and vent. The adult female looks dark grey-brown from above and pale grey from below. It has two rows of white spots on the wing, a prominent white rump and white sides to its blackish tail, and the pale underparts are entirely covered in dark scaly markings except for its white vent. It feeds on insects and berries.It breeds in the Himalayas in April-July.
