Description : The Blue-fronted Redstart is a small passerine whose male is visibly different from the female (male: Length 15 cm, weight 17 g, wing 9 cm, bill 1.7 cm, tarsus 2.5 cm, tail 7 cm female: wing 8 cm, bill 1.5 cm, tarsus 2.2 cm, tail 6.7 cm approximately). The male looks blue from above and chestnut-orange from below. Its forehead, wing, throat and breast are blue. Its belly and rump are orange. Its tail has a broad, black terminal band. The female looks dark brown from above and olive-brown to orange-brown from below. It has orange-red rump and orange wash to the belly and vent. It feeds on insects, berries and seeds. It breeds in May-August.
