Description : The Crested Hawk-Eagle is a medium-sized raptor with broad wings and long tail (adult bird length approximately 70 cm, wing 42 cm, bill 4 cm, tarsus 10.2 cm, tail 25.3 cm). It has two colour phases. In the more common pale phase it has brown upperparts, a boldly streaked breast and belly. In the rarer dark phase it is dark chocolate-brown to black. It feeds on medium sized jungle birds, squirrels, hares and field rats. It breeds in January-April.
