Description : The Whimbrel is a sandy-brown wader with a medium length down-curved bill (adult bird length approximately 42.5 cm, weight 330 g, wing 25.5 cm, bill 8.5 cm, tarsus 5.5 cm, tail 9.5 cm). Its female is a little bigger than the male. It looks brown from above and whitish from below. It feeds on crustaceans and marine invertebrates. Three to five eggs are laid. Adults are very defensive of nesting area and will even attack humans who come too close.
