Description : The Black-breasted Thrush is a small passerine whose male looks different from the female (length 22 cm, weight 75 g, wing 12 cm, bill 2.5 cm, tarsus 3.2 cm, tail 8 cm). The breeding male is slaty to grey above. Its head, nape, throat and breast are entirely black. Its upper belly and flanks are orange-rufous and lower belly is white. The breeding female is dark olive-brown above. It has dark malar stripe, whitish streaks on the throat, olivaceous streaks on the breast and white belly. Its lower breast and flanks are orange. Both sexes have brown irises and yellow to orange eye-rim, bill, legs and feet. It feeds on insects, slugs and berries. It breeds in April-July.
