Description : The Thick-billed Green Pigeon is a small-sized green pigeon with a red base to the bill (adult bird length approximately 27 cm, wing 13.5 cm, bill 1.4 cm, tarsus 1.8 cm, tail 9 cm). The male differs from the female. The male has a grey forehead and crown and chestnut-maroon back, scapulars and lesser wing-coverts, and yellow fringes to the wing-coverts. The rest of its upperparts are olive-green. Its underparts are green. Both sexes have a thick yellowish bill with a red base. It thrives in its natural habitats, which include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. It has a unique feeding behavior, as it primarily consumes the syconia of figs. To do so, it moves slowly along the branches, carefully navigating its way to find and feed on these fruits.
