Description : The Barred Cuckoo-Dove is a sleek brown dove with a long graduated tail (adult bird length approximately 41 cm, weight 200 g, wing 19 cm, bill 1.5 cm, tarsus 1.7 cm, tail 21.5 cm). It has rufous upperparts finely bared with dark brown, its long tail is barred with rufous and brown. It feeds on fallen berries, seeds, grains and termites. It bobs its head while walking and when alarmed. Its usual call is a soft. This species is found in dense subtropical woodlands at altitudes ranging from 800 to 3,000 meters (2,600 to 9,800 feet) above sea level, particularly on montane slopes. It shows a preference for habitats such as clearings and edges of old-growth forests, as well as second growth forests.
