Description : The Green Imperial Pigeon is a large green and grey pigeon (adult bird length approximately 45 cm, weight 500 g, wing 23.5 cm, bill 3.6 cm). It has a lavendar-grey head and neck, its wings, back and tail are bright metallic-green with a bronzy sheen. It breeds in March-June. The courtship display of the male includes bowing its head to present the crown frontally to the female. The arboreal dove primarily feeds on plant material found in the tree canopy. Its flight is swift and direct, showcasing the typical wing beats and occasional flick characteristic of pigeons. For nesting, it constructs stick nests in trees and lays a single white egg. While not highly social, the birds may form small flocks at times.
