Rose-ringed parakeets have a diverse diet including buds, fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries, and seeds. They can cause damage by foraging in farmlands and orchards. In captivity, they can be fed fruits, vegetables, pellets, seeds, and small amounts of cooked meat. During breeding season (September to December), they form pairs and select nest sites. The female relies on winter pea crops for egg production. They care for their young from April to June. Rose-ringed parakeets can mimic human speech and can be trained. However, they have been observed attacking common noctules and occupying their tree cavities, resulting in the bats' death.
