Description : The Large-billed Leaf Warbler is a small dark oily-green leaf warbler with a dark bill (length 12 cm, weight 11.6 g, wing 6.5 cm, bill 1.5 cm, tarsus 2 cm, tail 5.2 cm). The upperparts are olive-green with a darker crown. It has a white-yellowish wing bar on the greatercovert and sometimes a faint white median covert wing barcontrasting with the greenish fringes to the flight feathers. It has a well-marked yellowish-white supercilium contrasting with a broad dark eye-stripe and greyish mottling on the ear-coverts. The underparts are yellowish-white with some olive-grey washing on the flanks. Its irises are hazel-brown, it has brown legs and feet, and lemon-yellow soles. Its bill is relatively strong and dark brown with a small area of orange at the base of the lower mandible. The male and the female look alike. It feeds mainly on flying insects. It breeds in the Himalayas and mountains of western China in June-August.
