Description : The Spot-breasted Parrotbill is a medium sized olive-brown passerine with a black ear patch and stubby yellow bill (length 19 cm, weight 26 g, wing 8 cm, bill 1.7 cm, tarsus 2.6 cm, tail 10 cm). The upperparts are entirely warm brown with a rufous-cinnamon crown and nape, and long graduated tail. It has white cheeks specked with dark, and black ear-coverts. Its underparts are pale buff with arrow-shaped black spots and streaks on the throat and upper breast. It has brown to red-brown irises, short rounded wax-yellow bill and slaty-grey legs and feet. The male and the female look alike. It feeds on seeds and insects. It breeds in the hills of northeast India in April-June.
