Description : The Black-headed Munia is a small rufous-brown passerine with a black head (length 10 cm, wing 6 cm approximately). The adult is entirely rufous brown or chestnut above and below, except for a black head, neck, throat and breast, and black on the middle of the belly, vent and undertail-coverts. It has a prominent triangular pale bluish plumbeous bill, dark brown irises and dark plumbeous legs and feet. It feeds on seeds of grasses and rice. It breeds in May-November and nests in reeds standing in water, bushes in marshland and sugarcane fields.
