Description : The Grey Wagtail is a small grey bird with a yellow vent and long tail (length 17 cm, weight 16.3 g, wing 8.2 cm, bill 1.6 cm, tarsus 2 cm, tail 9 cm approximately). The breeding male has grey upperparts, dark blackish-brown wings with white margins to the tertials, a yellow rump, and long blackish-brown tail with white outer edges. It has a white supercilium, eye ring and malar streak, grey ear-coverts and a black throat. The rest of the underparts are bright yellow. The female and non-breeding male looks like breeding male except for a white throat, and buffish white underparts with a yellow breast and vent. It feeds on insects with some small molluscs. It breeds in the Himalayas in April-July.
