Description : The Ruddy-breasted Crake is a small rusty-brown swamp-bird with a stub tail (adult bird length approximately 22 cm, wing 10.5 cm, bill 2.3 cm, tarsus 5.5 cm). Its looks dark olive-brown from above and dull chestnut on the face and underparts. It feeds on insects and their larvae, molluscs and worms. It also takes seeds and shoots of water plants. It breeds in June-October.
