Description : The Slaty-legged Crake is a small, brown water bird with very long, slaty toes (adult bird length approximately 25 cm, wing 12.5 cm, bill 2.8 cm, tarsus 4.3 cm, tail 6 cm). Its back, wings and tail are plain olive-brown, but it looks rufous from the front. It feeds on seeds and shoots of water plants, molluscs, worms and other water insects. It breeds in June-September.
