Description : The Silver-backed Needletail is a large swift with long-pointed, bow-shaped wings, a distinct silver back and spines on the tail (adult bird length approximately 20 cm, wing 18.2 cm, bill 0.8 cm, tarsus 1.6 cm, tail 4.8 cm). It looks dark above and below but with a prominent white undertail. Its head, wings and tail are dark brown-black. It is a fast flyer and its wings make musical swishing sounds in flight.
