Description : The Indian Skimmer is a slim, pied water bird with long wings and an unusual bill whose lower mandible is much longer than the upper mandible (adult bird length approximately 40 cm, wing 37 cm, bill 7.7 cm, tarsus 2.5 cm, tail 10.8 cm). In the breeding season, it looks blackish-brown from above and glistening white from below. It has a black crown, It breeds in February-May.
