Description : The Pomarine Skua is a pelagic bird with a heavy body and a prominent tail projection (adult bird length approximately 53 cm, wing 36 cm, bill 4 cm, mid toe without claw 4.4 cm, tail 19 cm). The female is larger than the male. The breeding male and female have two phases: light and dark. In the dark phase they look dark brown from above and yellowish white from below. In the light phase they have blackish brown upperparts, dark cap, yellow neck-sides, barred breast band.
