Description : The Whiskered Tern is a small silvery-grey waterbird with a slightly forked tail (adult bird length approximately 25 cm, wing 22 cm, bill 3.4 cm, tarsus 2.2 cm, tail 7.8 cm). The breeding adult looks graceful silvery-grey from above. The non-breeding adult looks entirely pale grey except for black streaks on its white crown. It mainly feeds on insects like dragonflies, larvae, grasshoppers and water beetles. It also takes tadpoles, crabs and fish.
