Description : The Plaintive Cuckoo is an orange-breasted bird with grey upperparts (adult bird length approximately 23 cm, wing 11 cm, bill 1.6 cm, tarsus 1.7 cm, tail 12 cm). The male looks grey from above and orange from below. Its head, sides of the neck, chin and throat are ashy-grey. It feeds mainly on bugs, hairy caterpillars and other soft insects
