Description : The Rufous-necked Laughingthrush is a medium-large dark olive-brown passerine with rufous patches on the sides of its neck (length 23 cm, weight 65 g, wing 10 cm, bill 2.4 cm, tarsus 3.6 cm, tail 10.5 cm). The adult is plain olive-brown above including the tail, with a dark grey crown. Its forehead, ear-coverts, face, chin and throat down to the breast are black, with a rufus patch on the sides of the neck. The rest of the underparts are grey-brown with the center of the lower belly and vent rufous. Its irises are crimson or brown and the eye-rim is yellow; the bill, legs, feet and claws are dark horn brown. The male and the female look alike. It breeds in March-August. It feeds mainly on insects, molluscs, seeds and berries.
