Description : The Malayan Night Heron is a barred wader with a large, layered and drooping crest (adult bird length approximately 51 cm, wing 27 cm, bill 4.6 cm, tarsus 7.3 cm, tail 10.5 cm). It has a chestnut upperpart barred with black. Its neck is rufous and its crown and bushy crest are black. It has golden-yellow irises, greenish-slaty orbital skin, fleshy-yellow bill. It feeds mainly on fish, frogs and aquatic invertebrates.
