Description : The Pied Myna is a familiar black and white small-medium sized bird of towns and villages (length 23 cm, weight 77 g, wing 12 cm, bill 3.2 cm, tarsus 3.3 cm, tail 6.8 cm). It has a black crown, nape, back, wings, uppertail-coverts and tail. Its throat and breast are black and the rest of its underparts are pale grey to dirty white. It has white ear-coverts, a white line in the wing, and a white rump. It has a patch of orange skin around the eye, which has brown-orange or orange-buff irises. The bill is multi-coloured: the base is orange-red and the rest is pale yellow. It has yellowish-brown legs and feet. The male and the female look alike. It is omnivorous and feeds on insects, fruits, nectar, dead animals and all sorts of scraps. It breeds in March-September. It nests in the outer branches of trees.
