Description : The Blue-winged Leafbird is a small leaf-green bird with blue wings (length 18 cm, wing 8.4 cm, bill 2.1 cm, tarsus 1.8 cm, tail 6.5 cm). It looks uniform green from above and below. The male has yellowish feathers on and surrounding its black face and throat. It has a yellowish-green crown and nape. It has bright blue on the shoulder, primaries and sides of its tail feathers. The female is green with a bluish-green chin and throat and dull-blue on the shoulder, primaries and sides of its tail feathers. Both sexes have brown irises, and slate-grey legs and feet. The bill is black in the male and horn-brown in the female. It feeds on nectar, fruits, caterpillars, ants and other insects visiting flowers. It breeds in May-September.
