Description : The Indian Nightjar is a sleek, black-streaked grey night-bird with a broken, white nuchal collar (adult bird length approximately 24 cm, weight 45 g, wing 15 cm, bill 2 cm, tarsus 2 cm, tail 11 cm). It looks entirely grey or pale sandy-grey or brownish-grey. It feeds on bugs, beetles, moths and other flying insects. It is more active at dawn and dusk. It breeds in February-September.
