Description : It is a large wading bird found in parts of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. The Eurasian spoonbill is known for its distinctive spoon-shaped bill, which it uses to scoop up prey from shallow water.

Eurasian spoonbills are highly sociable and often nest in large colonies alongside other waterbirds such as herons and egrets. They primarily feed on small fish, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates such as insects and crustaceans.. Eurasian spoonbills tend to favor large, shallow wetlands that have a substrate of muddy clay or fine sand. They can be found in a variety of aquatic habitats such as marshes, rivers, lakes, floodplains, bogs, and mangrove swamps, regardless of whether the water is fresh, brackish, or saline. They are particularly drawn to areas that have undisturbed islets for nesting, as well as dense vegetation that emerges from the riparian zones, such as reedbeds, and scattered trees or shrubs. The Eurasian spoonbill has both migratory and resident populations, with breeding occurring in spring in the Palearctic and timed with rainfall in tropical regions. They nest in colonies close to feeding areas and feed on aquatic creatures such as insects, mollusks, crustaceans, and small fish. Their nests are made of sticks and vegetation, located on the ground, islands, or in dense vegetation. They forage alone or in small groups and roost communally up to 15 km away from feeding areas. They filter food by sweeping their beaks sideways.
